Vincristine Sulfate

Vincristine sulfate is a vinca alkaloid obtained from the Madagascar periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus). It is an antineoplastic agent that blocks cell mitosis by binding to tubulin and preventing microtubule assembly. WARNING: Fatal if given by other routes. For intravenous use only.

Dosage by Body Weight

Vincristine must only be administered intravenously by experienced clinicians. Dosage is strictly individualized, usually based on Body Surface Area (BSA) or body weight for pediatric patients under 10 kg. Typical pediatric dose is 1.5 to 2 mg/m2 weekly, capped at a maximum single dose of 2 mg. For infants and children weighing 10 kg or less, dosing is often calculated at 0.05 mg/kg weekly.

    Dose
    0.05 mg/kg

Strictly administered intravenously by pediatric oncology specialists. Highly toxic; dose requires precise calculation.
  2. Body Weight
    5-7 kg
    Dose
    0.05 mg/kg
    Frequency
    Once weekly
    Tracking Notes
For patients weighing 10 kg or less, weight-based dosing (0.05 mg/kg) is preferred over BSA-based dosing to prevent toxicity.
